MARULA OIL

-Sclerocarya Birrea-

History

The “tree of the elephants” is an ancient plant with a long history in South Africa. Many parts of the tree are used in traditional medicine.

The fruit, which ripens from January to March, has 4 times more vitamin C than an orange. The oil from the kernels is highly nutritious and light textured. It is naturally soothing, fast-absorbing and suited for all skin types. It contains powerful antioxidants, hydrates at the deepest levels and repairs the skin from within. It can also help heal and reduce scars, eczema and acne. Marula Oil is a potent source of nutrition that rejuvenates the appearance of your skin and boosts its cellular activity.

Directions

Skin

I prefer putting it onto my skin directly. If you prefer to mix it into a daily skin care cream I recommend choosing an organic cream base. As ingredients of conventional products are often packed with micro plastic and preservatives (to only name a few) which can leave a film on your skin which makes it hard for your skin to absorb the natural oils properly.

Both works and it only depends on your very own preferences.

It can help to treat scars, stretch marks, eczema and acne due to its non-comedogenic properties. This oil is an excellent moisturiser for face, body, hands, nails and feet.

Hair

This lightly textured oil can sooth and nourish a dry scalp. I recommend to leave it in overnight and wash it the following morning to avoid greasy hair.

Beard

The gentlemen might be happy to hear that Marula Oil makes a superb treatment for facial hair. Just rub a drop into your beard.

Make up remover

All you need is warm water and at least two cotton pads, depending on how much make up you would like to remove. Here is how I like to do it:

Wash your face with warm water, put 2 pumps or more on the first cotton pad and remove make up as usual. With the second and if necessary third pad take off the remainings until you can´t spot any leftover make up on your cotton pad.

After you can either leave your face how it is or wash it with gentle soap, preferably handmade without additives and put your usual skin care on.

I have tried both and both works perfectly fine. In summer I prefer cleaning my skin with soap after taking the make up off and just give it a rest. No oils or cream needed.

Again, many ways work and you should only do what feels right for your skin.

I hope you enjoy using my oils!
