Q&A - DIY Deodorant
Why should I make my own deodorant cream and Deo Sprays?
Store-bought deodorants often contain aluminium salts, synthetic fragrances, and preservatives that can irritate your skin and block your body’s natural detox process. Making your own deo lets you control exactly what touches your skin.
Will natural deodorant really work?
Yes, once your body adjusts! There’s usually a short transition period as your pores clear and your skin’s pH normalises. After that, most people find it works even better than conventional deodorant.
How long does it take to make?
About 15-20 minutes. Once you’ve done it once, it’s easier than baking a cake!
I have sensitive skin — will this work for me?
Yes! You’ll learn how to tailor the formula to your preferences.I’ll share one cream base you can adjust to your liking or leave as it is, and one Deo Spray, which I always use in hot countries, when sheabutter is too heavy on my skin.
How long does it last?
A small jar usually lasts 2–3 months, even with daily use.
Does it stop sweat completely?
No, and that’s a good thing. Sweating is a healthy way for your body to detoxify. The goal is to stay fresh, not block your pores.
Is baking soda (bicarbonate of soda) bad for my skin?
No, I honestly don’t understand why people believe that. Bicarbonate of soda is a wonderfully natural and versatile ingredient that I truly love and trust.
Although I offer deodorants both with and without bicarbonate of soda, I personally use it in many ways, not just in deodorant. I use it for my hair, my skin, my teeth, and around the house, because it’s such a powerful natural product.
Bicarbonate of soda helps to neutralise acidity, remineralise, and gently balance the skin. It also lightly brightens the teeth and helps to neutralise the mouth, making it harder for bacteria to thrive.
While I completely understand that some people prefer a bicarb-free option, which is why I offer a bonus Deo Spray Formular, I believe bicarbonate of soda is a pure, simple, and effective natural ingredient with so many great benefits.
Can I save money by making my own skincare products?
